香港六合彩开奖直播 professor/director to screen documentary at film festival

鈥淪tay Brady Stay鈥 a documentary film co-directed and written by University of Louisiana at Monroe Professor of Political Science John W. Sutherlin, was selected for screening at the San Antonio Film Festival at the Instituto Cultural de Mexico, June 23-27.

The festival has drawn interest from across the U.S. and 鈥渉as some of the most interesting and unique films, documentaries and animated shorts around,鈥 said Sutherlin. 鈥淚 was pleased and a bit surprised."

Social Science Research Lab Co-Director Joe McGahan, who served as a producer, commented on the honor.

鈥淗aving a film festival select 'Stay Brady Stay' is just more proof of how well this film was made and how important the issue of brain drain (the loss of intellectual capital) is to lots of communities,鈥 he said.

The documentary film addresses the plight of small American towns throughout the nation, but especially here in Louisiana. It discusses Louisiana鈥檚 so-called 鈥渂rain drain鈥 and provides insight as to why young, educated professionals are emigrating every year at an increasing rate from the small rural towns they were raised in to larger urban centers in other states.

The film, which was produced through a service-learning grant from the University of Louisiana System, began airing on Louisiana Public Broadcasting stations around the state in February. Sutherlin has also shown the film to more than 40 audiences across Louisiana since March.
