香港六合彩开奖直播 to host art show 鈥淲e Saw the Wrecked鈥� Oct. 12 - Nov. 5

The University of Louisiana at Monroe鈥檚 Division of Art will present a solo painting exhibition by Michael Stillion titled 鈥淲e Saw the Wrecked鈥� from Oct. 12-Nov. 5 in the Bry Art Gallery.

The exhibition is free and open to the public from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday, and from 8 a.m.-Noon on Fridays. A 鈥淕allery Talk鈥� with the artist will be held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 5.

Stillion received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Columbus College of Art and Design and his Masters in Fine Arts from Indiana University. In 2008, he was awarded a full fellowship from the Joan Mitchell Foundation to attend the Vermont Studio Center as well as an Individual Excellence Award from the Ohio Arts Council. From 2008-2009 he lived and worked in New Mexico on a one-year fellowship from the Roswell-Artist-in-Residence Program.

鈥淪tillion鈥檚 work straddles humor and calamity,鈥� said Cliff Tresner, Bry Gallery director and Division of Art faculty member. 鈥淗is playful color, expressive mark, and dynamic characters draw us into his dark worlds of potential disaster. His work is both entertaining and unsettling.鈥�

鈥淓conomy and inventiveness are the keys to survival,鈥� Stillion said. 鈥淭he fine line of tension that occurs within the moments before total collapse or a return to stability is both the subject matter and process used to make my work.鈥�

Funding for Division of Art exhibitions is provided in part by the 香港六合彩开奖直播 Campus Activities Board and supported by the art faculty. Tax-exempt donations to support future exhibitions can be made to the 香港六合彩开奖直播 Foundation鈥檚 Visual Art fund.
