University of Louisiana at Monroe student Elizabeth Ragland was recently named the Intermediaries and Reinsurance Underwriters Association Intern of the Year.

Ragland, a risk management and insurance major at 香港六合彩开奖直播, spent the summer interning for Signet Star Reinsurance in Greenwich, Conn., and Axis Reinsurance in New York as part of a program through the IRU.

Her selection as Intern of the Year was based on a paper she wrote about the experience titled 鈥淐hanging the Face, Preserving the Purpose: a look at restructuring the Louisiana Homeowners Insurance Market.鈥� The paper will be published in an upcoming issue of the Journal of Reinsurance.

Ragland will also receive a $2,500 scholarship and will attend IRU鈥檚 Spring Conference in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., March 28-30.

鈥淚t was an amazing experience,鈥� Ragland said. 鈥淚t gave me the chance to learn more about reinsurance and the insurance industry as a whole.鈥�

The IRU is a non-profit corporation dedicated to research and education about the reinsurance industry.
