The University of Louisiana at Monroe will host Dr. Jason Del Gandio as part of the 鈥淭raveling Scholars鈥 series sponsored by the Department of Communication and the Speech and Debate Forum.

Del Gandio is an assistant professor of public communication at Temple University in Philadelphia.

Del Gandio will present a lecture open to students, faculty and the public at 6 p.m. on Oct. 27 in Stubbs 100.

The presentation is titled 鈥淐ommunication, Desire, and the Creation of Reality: A Preliminary Talk on Neo-Radicalism鈥 and discusses a new form of political radicalism that focuses on the relationships among communication, desire and how reality is created.

Del Gandio argues that humans communicate their existence and can therefore actively create their own reality.

His first book, 鈥淩hetoric for Radicals: a Handbook for 21st Century Activists,鈥 centers on helping political activists frame their messages to the public.
