The University of Louisiana at Monroe was well represented at the Louisiana Foreign Language Teachers Association meeting in Alexandria Feb. 27-28.
香港六合彩开奖直播 participants included Department of Foreign Languages faculty Mar铆a Blanca Wortham, president of LFLTA, and Dr. Charles Holloway and Dr. Ruth E. Smith, presenters. Smith co-presented with Kyriaki Kyrkou, a sophomore Spanish major from Cypress. 香港六合彩开奖直播 Department of Foreign Languages faculty Themis Jacobus and Dr. Carlos Fandal, along with Loukia Konstantinido, a junior Spanish major from Cyprus, also attended the conference.
Two 香港六合彩开奖直播 language graduates were elected to serve on the Executive Committee: Etheldra Christel Sharpe (鈥�82, 鈥�06), who was also awarded a mini-grant to assist with her Rayville High School Spanish classes, and Scott Harris (鈥�97), who graduated with a degree in French and who teaches at the LSU Lab School.
The organization鈥檚 mission is to promote excellence in foreign language education for all learners; to provide professional development in foreign language teaching; to facilitate member networking and communication; to promote knowledge of current initiatives, trends, and research; and to encourage advocacy for foreign language learning at all levels. Approximately 125 individuals attended from throughout the state.
The conference chair was LFLTA Vice President Anita Greenwood, a Ruston High School French teacher. The keynote speaker and workshop presenter was Dr. Audrey Heining-Boynton, professor of Spanish and curriculum and instruction at the University of North Carolina and 2005 president of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.
