University of Louisiana at Monroe Child Development Center Director Emily Williamson recently presented a workshop titled 鈥淓arly Literacy鈥� at the Louisiana Resource Center for Educators in Baton Rouge.

Williamson, who is also an instructor in 香港六合彩开奖直播鈥檚 Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, presented the six-hour session for public and private lower elementary school teachers, pre-kindergarten through third grade.

The session helped teachers understand the importance of a language-rich environment and how to cultivate it in their classrooms. Williamson shared hundreds of samples of children's work to give participants new ideas for activities that integrate reading and writing in the classroom.

Williamson was one of 15 featured presenters asked to present at this year鈥檚 LRCE's summer workshop series, which was sponsored by Cox communications, Entergy, Chase, Louisiana Lottery, Exxon-Mobile and Phelps Dunbar LLP.
